If the Enlightenment attempted to erase superstition, then it installed science fiction in its place. The fundamental difference comes with the Enlightenment Project and its corrolary new science and industialism. But this does not explain the persistence of magic and superstition as cultural imaginaries. Take a look at the recent popularity of new religious cults and mass spiritual movements to witness the proliferation of superstitition.
